Thinking Day Library

Dear fellow Girl Scout/Girl Guide,

I am a Cadette Girl Scout from Louisville, Kentucky USA. I am currently working on my project for my Silver Award. The Silver Award is the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout in the USA can earn.

For my project, my Girl Scout troop is creating a Thinking Day library. Thinking Day is celebrated as very big events in the USA. Many Girl Scout councils have large celebrations to showcase our scouting countries around the world. To participate in these events many troops select a scouting/guiding country and represent that country at their celebration. To learn about their countries the adults research their chosen country and share the information with their girls. The girls learn about their chosen country’s resources, politics, trade, education/schools, sports, food, clothing, scouting movement etc. Many try to learn a few words in that country’s language and even try authentic foods.

To create this library we are trying to get as much information about every WAGGGS country. We are asking for any information you could help contribute. Any fliers, pamphlets, magazines, websites etc that you could send about your country and your scouting/guiding movement would be wonderful. We have even collected candy bar wrappers to display in our notebooks to show girls that even candy can vary from country to country.

I also have many questions about the scouting/guiding efforts in your country and would love to have someone that I could send email to, that might be able to help me. Please reply to my email at the email address below if you can connect me to someone for my questions.

To mail information please send it to our leader:

Troop 1964/Cathy Mathus
229 Mackie Ln
Louisville, Ky 40214
USA

To send any information electronically please send it to our troop’s email:
gstroop1964@yahoo.com

If you have any questions, please email our leader at the above email address. Thank you so much in helping me with my project but also in helping my fellow scouts have a great Thinking Day reference library.

Sincerely,  Casey Blair

Good Afternoon,

My Name is Noreen Jehnke, I am a second year Girl Scout Daisy Leader in The United States.  I hope you can help me out.  For our “International Night” my troop chose Greece.  I thought it would be wonderful for my girls to be able to be in contact with girls their age (6-7 years old) and learn about the Girl Guides in Greece.  This will also help my girls earn a Daisy Petal too.  If you could pass this email on to a “Star” or “Bird” troop I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you for your time and effort.

Sincerely,
